My 94 ZJ WON'T START.
5.2, GCL.
Just a couple of days ago, it died on me after being off for only 5 minutes in a parking lot. Battery had juice, cleaned all of the terminals again, and nothing. I hear the click up in the passenger side front where the relays are. Tried starting in neutral, etc. Tried jumping the battery to the starter, but nothing. Any takers? |

Re: My 94 ZJ WON'T START.
If the starter isn't turning use a DVOM and check voltage on the small wire to the solenoid. It should get 12 volt when someone is trying to start the vehicle.

Re: My 94 ZJ WON'T START.
Jumped red to red. No go. Replaced the starter, still nothing.
It is getting 12 volts. I am convinced it is in the anti-theft system. |

Re: My 94 ZJ WON'T START.
jump the small wire with big red wire or as suggested check for B+ on small wire with someone turning to start if not there check relays etc if there change starter . I mostly work alone so screwdriver works for me. anyway that should make starter turn over using screwdriver (but will spark) if turns over starter good if not soliniod or starter ng (since you checked batt etc to that point). IF turns over work from there, oh and because you hear relay only means its enerjizing its still a switch and may not pass the B+, contact points may be open. wish you luck OH I JUST READ YOUR LAST POST YOU CHANGED STARTER SORRY FOR ABOVE I will leave only because may help someone. You need to check eng starter relay in power distrib box and nuetral switch also f12 in distr center feeds starter relay. sorry for needless info wish you luck

Re: My 94 ZJ WON'T START.
Sounds like the shifter is not in Park position as ronaldk mentionned (neutral switch). I had same problem, make sure shifter is 100% in Park position, move it toward engine, neutral then back into Park and give it a try. Sounds stupid but might work.
