smell coming from my sub
hey so i just got a cerwin-vega stroker 104 and its in a ported box. the amp i am running is a alpine mrd-m1005. i was listening to it today pretty high and i notice a bruning smell so right away i turned it down. the head unit is a alpine CDA-9887 so i need some help setting up my system so that i don't blow my sub. thanx

no it sounded really good i had one of the seats folded down and i was pounding really hard. do you know what kinda settings i should run on the amp?

what do you have the amp settings on ? bass gain on the headunit ? loudness ?

at the time the head unit was at 10 out of 15, on the amp the bass gain was at the highest it could go. the thing i don't get is the sub can handle up to 2000 rms and the amp can only put out 1000rms. the setting i don't know about is the imput level i should put it on? thanx

turn the bass on the amp and the headunit to 0, then set the amp input level to halfway. The thing is, an amp can easily produce twice it's rated power when pushed into heavy clipping like that.
