'98 Regal LS Security Light On

'98 Regal LS...

When starting up my car, my security light
will sometimes stay on. The car drives fine,
doesn't stall, fires right up, no problems.
When I turn the car off and start it back up,
the light turns off.
Sometimes i'm able to pull out the key in the
ignition unlock position...

It's not a big issue to me, but i'd like to
fix it before it becomes worst.

Any ideas?? Thanks

Re: '98 Regal LS Security Light On

Have you tried cleaning the resistor pellet on the Passkey II key or tried a spare key? Also, try a relearn. Key in ignition ON for 10 minutes and off for up to 30 minutes.

Re: '98 Regal LS Security Light On

No, never thought of cleaning
the resistor pellet. Is there any
special way of cleaning it?
And I lost the spare key
a while back, so that idea is
a no go...

After this issue started, my
keyfob stopped working.
I've changed the battery
plenty of times and tried
the remote synchronization,
but to no avail.

I'll try that relearn method you
told me and let you know how it goes.

Thanks for the tips
