RESTORE Engine treatment

I'm doing an oil change this weekend on my 95 Vic with 101,000 miles. The car is burning just a little oil between changes (about a quart), I'm told this is normal? Has anyone used this stuff? I hesitate because it is blue oil with 60% copper and 40% lead in it. Won't this just clog things up? Is Lucas oil additive any better? The car is running fine, I just wonder if I've lost compression and power due to age. (I know I have!) If it just thickens the oil can't I just use a thicker oil to start with? There are so many conflicting reports, What do you guys think? What about you way2old? I'm also replacing the idler arm and pitman arm to stiffen up the steering. My idler arm is very loose. Thanks you guys.

Re: RESTORE Engine treatment

I am not a fan on oil additives. You may be able to go a little heavier on the oil. We use (wait for the people to complain about bad information) 10W30. If you are just doing one quart in an oil change, that is really nothing to be concerned about. You may have a seal that has a little seepage if you look really closely. Ford will seep at the rear main seal and leak oil under the heads, usually on the passenger side just above the starter.

Re: RESTORE Engine treatment

it is a 95, it is about a million years old

are you sure it is burning and not a leak?

but restore and transX are the only two majic motor/tranny goops that can work for a little bit. Some times they can work for a lot of bit.

just remeber that they do not fix anything they often just Perpetuate your pain like a
Aspirin, Yep it will help with a rotten tooth…. But sooner or later you need to take care of the problem

Re: RESTORE Engine treatment

Thanks, you guys. I'm gonna take the crap back. All the research I'm finding is more negative than positive about the addiditives. (especially if there is nothing wrong) I was also going to do a GUNK motor flush, but that might go back as well. I'm not having any problems with the engine and I was told that using some oil is normal (for a 15 year old car) she doesn't smoke at all. I'm just gonna keep up with the oil changes. I bought Quaker State oil and a Motorcraft oil filter, gonna get started on this tommorow with a friends help. Thanks Eric.

The car is old but doesn't look it or act like it. She'll "shit and git" when you want her to. She was bought new by an old couple and they loved it until someone crashed into the front left fender and they traded it for a new one. It was bought by one of the body guys at the dealer and he replaced and painted the fender. Everything works on the car and I'm just having to replace parts that have just worn out after 15 years. I will drive her as long as I can. I love this car.
