Spyder at the track
Best times were 9.2 at 79mph and 9.2 at 81mph. Theres no doubt in my mind the car will go 8's with some tires and better driving. But anyway, I did much better this time than last time. Last time I went, I run 9.7 at 79mph.
Lemme know what you think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWR4IJTGgDg

Re: Spyder at the track
Are you holding the gas at the line or just taken off normally?

Re: Spyder at the track
Of course ned, thats how you always do.
Jason: Im not sure of my 60's I will have to check when I get home. I know they aren't that good whatever they are. Dave: What exactly do you mean? I dont rev it up and dump it if thats what you mean, I rev it just a little, then when the light drops, I feather the clutch and gas. I dont really have any particular method.

Ya that's what I meant. I forget why I asked lol.
We need to build you a 1/4 mile track by you.

Re: Spyder at the track
Street tires are good for 2.2 60's at the track. So if your not that low yet you still have room for improvement. I think my best 60' so far was 2.37 or something shitty like that. Try lower tire pressure to 25psi, that seems to help mine alot. Also some people like to preload to the drivetrain at the line. Pull up the ebrake, rev the car and let out on the clutch just till it starts to grab a little but not enough to move the car. Then when the light turns green let the ebrake down and finish slipping the clutch out. I have only tried this a few times but it may help you keep wheel spin down as there wont be such a harsh engagment off the line breaking the tires loose.

Re: Spyder at the track
I may try that. I forgot to go in the car and look at my slips when I got home but now Im in the bed. I dont know if it affected my 60' or not but if you notice in the vid, my fastest runs I had to back out of the throttle in 2nd, because wheelspin became too great.

Re: Spyder at the track
What was the pressure in your tires? You shouldn't have problems with wheel spin in 2nd on a well prepared track. I usually dont have much trouble with the tires breakin loose in 2nd so there is no reason you should

Re: Spyder at the track
the track is sticky as hell. I run right after sum really fast race cars. I didnt even check tire pressure bc they are visibly low in pressure anyway plus they are some really hard all season michelens that i paid 25 bucks a piece for. I could probably run faster with my 18s

Re: Spyder at the track
Yea, I was going to say when I had my 14b in my eclipse, I rarely had wheel spin in 2nd gear...after reading about the tires it makes sense.

Re: Spyder at the track
Theres nothing wrong with the tires, they are just not performance tires.
And my car is suprisingly tourqy throughout the powerband. Don't sleep on the SOHC 4G64 ![]() Heres my fastest slips: ![]() My 9.2 at 81mph run my 60' was 2.197 and my 9.2 at 79mph run was 60' at 2.105

Re: Spyder at the track
not terrible. I'd think mid-13's at a 1/4 track?
Getting off the line isn't easy, sounds like you may be ready for an AWD swap.....
