1996 Chevy Cavalier running rough even after tune up

Hello,

My car started running rough, now my car had a big hole in the muffler so I thought that might contribute to the issue so I replaced that. That didn't seem to work, so I took it up to Autozone and had them run their simple code check and it said I'm having a misfire and knock sensor error. Now few months before this I had a head gasket replaced and I had my check engine lite come up after wards and my crank position sensor had an error, but my car never ran rough or had problems starting, so I ignored it. The light stayed on, no big deal, now it flashes. I replaced wires and spark plugs and still running rough. Plus after getting the muffler it runs kinda loud still. When I give my car gas it seems to lack power and takes awhile to get up to speed, but still safe to drive. Any suggestions what it is before I take this to a mechanic and get charged $900?

Thanks,
Tony

AutoZone can get codes but their scanners cant pinpoint whats wrong.

There are a lot of things that can cause your car to run bad.

A flashing CEL (Check Engine Light) means that if the problem isnt fixed soon it will harm your catalytic converters or even engine.

It sounds like your car isnt firing on one of the cylinders causing raw fuel to get to the O2 sensors.

Most likely your crank sensor is bad (as you said) and isnt giving your computer the right signals.

as for it being loud without knowing about where on the car it is coming from cant really give you any info on that.

start your car get out and get down to listen under your car see if you can get a general idea where it is coming from.

Well the loudness is coming from the front, I/m thinking its my cat converter. As for the other stuff, I guess I'll just go take it to a shop.

Now could it be a camshaft or crankshaft sensor? or would I get different problems?
