Tranfering VQ engine into 1984 300zed

i cannot find any info on whether a vg layout is the same as a vq. I have an 84 zed with a vg engine out of the navarra, lots of torque, I am considering putting in a vq if I do not have to change the engine mounts, if I have to then I would consider the nissan V8 instead. Are the layouts the same, I want larger displacement, more power & torque without adding turbo.

Yes, I am sure engine mounts plus A LOT more would need to be changed. This would be a complete Frankenstein swap and I am sure the reason you cannot find much info is because swapping in the VQ wouldn't be worth the time or work involved because there is simply better motors to tune that would swap in easier, possibly with the VG30ET that comes in your body style already.
