Is there a security feature in Ignition?
Today, My 2000 grand am gt, would not start. I would turn the key and i would hear no noise, unlike my old Nova, i would hear a clicking sound if it was the starter. With the Grand Am, i get Power but no sound when I turn the key.
I got the car towed to a repair shop. He said there is a security device that could be bad behind the Key hole in the ingnition. IS THIS TRUE? I never heard of such a thing. |

Re: Is there a security feature in Ignition?
find the relearn procedure for the theft deterrent and have it in your glove box for future references just in the case you get stuck again. But this will most likely be only temporary solution...

Re: Is there a security feature in Ignition?
if your theft system is flashing,
attempt to start the engine and leave the key in the on position for 11-12 min light will stop flashing then start the engine. I did it on mine as simple as that. |

Re: Is there a security feature in Ignition?
Hello,
I've had the same problem on my 99 GA and it was a real nightmare. The car would stall every few days. After almost 1000.00 spent with no real solution I found a link to disabling the security feature. It's posted under tips and maintenance on this forum. It evolves removing the radio and cutting a yellow wire. Since then I haven't had a problem. The security light will stay on. Follow the instructions step by step. Good luck!! Weber |
