Can someone name the exact make/model/year of this VW Bus

Hey can anybody name the exact year and model designation of this VW Bus Pickup? did they have a special name like the other variants did (Kombi, etc)?

That is pretty much what the OP already did before posting here!

Lotustt1, welcome to AF.

I came across this info on Wikipedia, which is a good place to start.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Type_2

VW did not make annual styling changes so it is very difficult to pinpoint the actual year of production just by a picture.

I also noticed you have started a total of 3 threads on this one subject. Please be aware this is not permitted as per the user guidelines to which you agreed when you signed up here. Redundant posts consume server resources unnecessarily and many other AF members find this practice annoying.

Re: Can someone name the exact make/model/year of this VW Bus

Yah, difficult to tell just from the one angle, I'm sure my VW enthusiast friend could nail it down pretty close though.

It is often called a single cab or in the UK a bullet nose truck (because of the bullet style turn signals). They were first produced in 1952 but this one is between 1958 and 1963 since it has the bullet style turn signals and "towel bar" or "monkey bar" front bumpers. (the bumpers where changed to that style in 1958)

In 1955 the US models changed to the bullet style turn signals and changed to the pancake style in 1961 - the European models continued the bullet style until 1963.

So based on that this has to be a 1958-1961 if it is a US model or could be as late as a '63 if it is European.
