Rear axle/bearing clearance
In the next few days I'm going to be changing the diff fluid in my 92 K2500 EC/SB (non-HD - so 6 bolt rims and small 14 bolt diff and not a posi). When I do that I'm also going to have a close look at the axle seals and replace them if they look old or are leaking. My truck has about 250k miles on the clock. The body is pretty good with only a little rust near the front of the wheel openings of the fenders. Mechanically the truck is excellent, and in order to maintain this condition I want to check the rear axle/axle bearing clearance. Can anyone let me know what we should be looking at for acceptable clearance? Thanks.

Quote:
there are certain spec's but if its working fine why ???? with proper diff fluid replacement [drop cover and clean every 30,000mi]this diff will outlast the rest of the vehicle... |
