WIP: MFH Ferrari TR59 LM60 #17

I just went crazy and burned $1000 shipped on 5 MFH kit. TR59, 250gto 62 and 64, TRI61 High tail and 275 gtb/c. I think it's a good deal, Average $200 per kit.

I'm planning to make this into the 0766TR Lemans 60 #17.

Got most of the body parts. Still smoothing the side which is a separate white metal piece.



frame, engine partially assembled. I'm planning to cut the 4 square piece at the corners of the frame. The part is for the big screw on the body.


A long way to go. The gap on the side is driving me crazy. I putty/sand like 4 times and it's still not perfect.


The fuel tank is not glued on. I just dropped in for pic. The crossbar behind it is not glued too.

I'd say that's a thousand dollars very well spent! Congratulations.

And I can't wait to see more of this project. I'll have to live vicariously through you for a while because I can't blow the $1000 on these things.

Yes Sir. I spent over 10 hours putting the frame together. The rear frame fitting is horrible.

Good luck with your projects, they are great subjects, I specialy like the 1959 TR, a beautiful car!!

Now, I just can't spend over $200 for a kit that requires so much rework,fitting and to some point fabrication to get a nice model of it, MFH produce great automotive subjects, with great potential but their buildup is quite a challenge in terms of fittings and corrections to metal parts and some times the car body.

If this was my kit, I will replace all the white metal chassis tubing with a brass tube one, belive me it will be simplier and faster than cleaning and polishing all the cast pieces supply in the kit and make it look good.....my humble opinion of course.

You'll have your share of work to put it together but it will be fun for sure.

I did some engine work over the weekend. The left engine is from Hasegawa 57 TR, right engine is MFH TR59.







painted the white metal body pieces. Cleaning the rough edges on the fenders opening.

MrFerrari, uh? A nickname well deserved. These are great projects you aquired. I´d love to do one of these. Nevertheless I´ll spend my time watching you taking care of it.

The start looks superb. These kits are just a joy to watch. How would you compare the kit engines quality compared to the Hasegawa one?
