torque convereter lockup
hello everyone,I'm having a problem with I think the torque converter is in lockup all the time
whenever I stop the motor dies I am a retired trany mechanic but dont know about how converters lockup ![]() it is a 90 plymouth grand voyager |

I removed the tranny and the tranny pan magnet is full of fine metal shavings,looks like a metal sea urchin haha.But I dont see any signs of metal pieces in the tranny.
could the shavings have come from the torque converter? |

It's possible. When lock-up is off pressure is supplied through the input shaft to the converter. To apply the fluid is shut off.

well I bought a new converter.
The mechanic said theres a seal inside the converter that could have gone bad He also said its possible the shavings were inside the lines from the previous repair job of torn up planetarys if it aint one thing its another |
