minibikes

my son is now 3 but about to turn 4....looking to get him a bike....havn't really done my research yet but can anyone help me out on where to look

Has he already started to master pedalling? (starting without a motor is always a good idea) You could always try and find one of those Rupp minibike things that use lawnmower type engines, but if that's too lame, I just saw this on ebay:


It's called a Polini, but I've never seen one before, it may be too big.

Looking around, this might be ideal for your kid:

That's a pocketbike, and they may be too large engine-wise. Some of them are capable of up to 60+mph STOCK. Even the 4.2hp ones will reach an easy 40mph, I've been told.

I started out on a lil tiny Honda 50cc dirtbike in the back yard. The grass is a good deal softer than the driveway or pavement.

i eventually want to get him this one.....but if i get him the micro zipper and take him to a field, the dirt, and then the street.....about time he's 5 he should be ready fo the Polini....

God Bless Robert for SBW and PBW. VERY great informative sites. They'll give you the low-down on anything you ever wanted to know about Pocketbikes.

As was mentioned earlier, I hope your son can pedal and balance a standard bicycle (no training wheels), or your mission for a motorized cycle for him is entirely hopeless. :o

The dealers around here have been selling E-Ton 4 wheelers. They are made for kids. The controls are kid sized. One great design feature is the teather line option. Basicaly, It is a kill switch with a long teather line. It the kid gets out of control, just yank on the cord and the quad stops moving. It save you from having to chase them.

Honda and Suzuki sell small bikes for kids too.Most dealers wont carry them because of the liability and the low demand. Honda even has a 4 Strokes 4 Kids program.

Blech, at least start him off right - with an oil burner! Nothing beats a 2-stroker.
Just kidding, I'm dissapointed that the 2-stroke is going away.

From what I understand, Honda's 4 Strokes 4 kids is a progem to start kids into racing at an early age. The benefit is affordable and safe gear. The bike itself, Helmet, pads, jerseys, pants, gloves, boots, etc. The prices on the gear seem very reasonable.
