Re: 94 K1500 Oil pan replacement
Here is an update. It took roughly 8 hrs but I got the job done. I rented an engine hoist this morning. I removed the oil filter assembly, the inspection cover on the bell housing (but you can not remove it completely without dropping the exhaust which I did not do) I had to remove the brace between the inspection cover and the frame on the passenger side. I just loosened the one on the drivers side and swung it out of the way. Be care if you have an oil cooler after I dropped the filter housing a lot of oil came out of the lines. It got a little messy. I removed all the bolts the one above the axel on the passenger side was tricky but I was able to get it with short extension and went above the axel. After I got all the bolts out the pan was still stuck pretty good. I had to take a screw driver and pry it. I had to remove the motor mount bolts and the fan schroud. Then I jacked up the engine about 3 inches (as far up as I could get it) Make sure you don't crush anything on the back of the engine. I had to check a couple of times. With the engine up I was able to manuver the oil pan out. The new pan was a little tough to get in you have to make sure the gasket stays on the pan. The paper work with the gasket said NOT to use any adhesive on it. I finally got it back together and torqued the bolts down. I replaced the gasket on the oil filter house and there is one up in side the piece on the block too. Make sure you clean all the gasket surfaces the one in the filter house had a stubborn piece in it but patient won and I get it out. Looks good no leaks but I will give it a week or two just to be sure. I use car ramps only with this.
