02 Passat 1.8t No codes on check engine light
My daughter's check engine light is on. I've scanned it with my OBD2 reader and I get no codes. I've tried to clear it even though I have no codes and the check engine light is still on. I have an Innova 3100 code reader. It links to the computer whenever I push the link button, but I still get no codes. Any ideas??

Re: 02 Passat 1.8t
Your code reader should remove the check engine light. Explain to me how you use your code reader.

Re: 02 Passat 1.8t
I plug the code reader into the obd2 port on the car and it automatically powers up. Then I turn the ignition key on. The auto icon comes up on the screen and I push the link button. Ater several seconds the # of Codes shows 0 and the code # is 0

Re: 02 Passat 1.8t
Ok. Have you tried to erase even though you have no codes? I have experienced this on my scanner an it worked. If not, you can try disconnecting the battery(neg. then pos.) for ten minutes and then reconnect(pos. then neg.) Be for warned that this may disable your radio. You will have to enter a code to make it operate again.

Yes, I've tried to erase with no error codes, but the check engine light remains on. I will try disconnecting the battery and see what happens. I will repost as soon as I know anything.

Re: 02 Passat 1.8t
Franco2112, I disconnected the battery like you recommended and left it off for 10 minutes. Reconnected in the order you recommended and started car. EPC light was on when I turned on the ignition. It cleared a few minutes after starting. No check engine light at this time. Thanks for all of your help. bebobullet
