Unhappy E 300D 1995 124 Tranny slip

Someone please help, my E300 D 1994 124 has developed a sudden slip while changing from 2nd to the 3rd gear. Please someone help as to what the problem and it's location could be.

This happened immediately after an engine rebuild, could it be because of faulty or improper Tranny Fluid.

Also please advise on following methods:

1) K1 spring kit
2) Modulator valve
3) Vacuum leaks

Please someone help, I hate to see my baby like this.

Re: E 300D 1995 124 Tranny slip

maybe you should flush the transmission fluid and put MERZ fluid in there or whatever it's supposed to have. there could be a piece of trash caught in one of the components of the transmission. if you've ever seen a diagram of an AT, you know why putting clean fluid in is REALLY important!

The first thing you need to do is check your fluid level. My guess is that some fluid leaked out of the cooler lines while the engine was out of the car. If you don't know how to check your fluid level it's simple. The fluid must be hot so after it's been driven, park on a level surface, leave the engine idling, car in park and check your fluid. PS if your worried about damaging your trans. further, just start your car and let it idle for about 30 minutes(maybe 45 if it's cold outside), the fluid should warm up. Report back with your findings.

Re: E 300D 1995 124 Tranny slip

I have same problem shifting from second to third gear. I am driving 1995 E300 Diesel now have 189K miles. The problem started around 80K miles. If I take the pressure off the accelerator, the gear shifts right away. Otherwise takes some time before shifting. Any suggestion?

I have the same problem with my 85 190e. It will shift all gears fine except 3rd to 4th. Spoke with the transmission shop today and of course they said it has a problem internally and want to charge me 1,300.00 to rebuild it. I'm wondering if it is something small. i really didn't want to put alot of money in the car. It may just be time to swap motors and trans. A 350 4 bolt main with the corvette rear transmission would be nice
