Spare GTS engine wanted
I sold my spare engine to one of my fellow racers, and I am looking for another. If you got a spare GTS engine please let me know. I don't care much on the condition, as long as the block and crank are good. I obviously plan on getting it rebuilt on any engine I buy. Thanks!

Re: Spare GTS engine wanted
Hope you got a good price for it last I checked they were $16k new and sealed from Panoz's engine builder. If you can run w/o a sealed spec motor then pretty easy to build a "clone" 351W with GT40 heads etc and dial it to 450hp and be in business. I don't think the crank and block that Panoz uses are best available, but I guess it depends on if you need to meet the sealed spec criteria for GT2 etc.

Re: Spare GTS engine wanted
thank you for your info, I am a Panoz GTS Distributor, so I know all about the fact of them being sealed... Since you are on the West Coast, you should know that several years ago I had Loynings in Portland set up as a GTS rebuilder. My personal opinion is that they build a much better engine and for less money. So if you ever need one rebuilt, please let me know. And that way they are sealed correctly. I am lookiing for a good core to be built back to spec.

Re: Spare GTS engine wanted
Didn't realize who you were Matt. Any plans to come down and run any Norcal SCCA events. Would be fun to get a group of Panozs together for an event. There are 4 GTS cars now running regularly in the SF SCCA group and several "school cars" that were waved through tech. Nice to have some plastic cars out there.
Email me if you plan to join us for any events as we will try to get the group together...maybe Infineon for Labor Day? Kevin Booth |

Re: Spare GTS engine wanted
Matt,
I'm out of the country for 4th (not very patriotic..I know). I'd give some thought to comming to Portland for another National or regional race this year or next. Might be kinda cool to see how many Panozs we could get to show up. Can you send me a link to the SCCA schedule that includes Portland area? Let me know if you do any events in OR, CA, NV too. I'll keep my fingers crossed in the runoffs again for you. Thanks, Kevin Booth [email protected] |
