Porsche 906: 1/24 Scratch build cardboard model
Hi guys!
Hanging around the modeling sites found this one. Was just amazed the things U all make especially in scratch builds threads. So I want to share a bit what can be made from paper if U don't mind. As I got it, there are not so many models with that material over here. But also so much of Porsche. But still no 906 so ... ![]() Porsche 906. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thats was all made in 3DMax, Corel and Pepakura, that make unfolds from the 3d stuff. The material that was also used is: simple wooden putty,CD disk plastic cover for rear and small lights. I don't know shall I tell U about it here ) Well, you can download background diorama over here And if U like it, the model itself by the direct link from my site. I know that is way and way far from perfection. But still I think my build is quite satisfactory. At least for me. Especially if take into account that it was so many times repainted, and smoothed and I already become fed up with it, decided to leave it as is. I did not make headlights glass cover because just do not want to pfaff around with it, as well as door markings. I've got some ideas about that, but maybe later.... So, instead of that, some photos of the prototype: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ......and from the building process: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: Porsche 906: 1/24 Scratch build cardboard model
Thank you very much. Pleased to hear that.
I agree that wheels are awful actually. And badly painted. The same about the roofing. The best thing would be to do it from brass or kinda, so that the doors can be opened. So, like so. Have got to take "Dremel" and keep on moving on it ) Thanks for paying attention to the thread. Last edited by Sieben; 01-12-2013 at 03:06 PM. |

I can say that almost only now, for a several years I guess so, may be a bit more, when there is a rise of vehicles designs of the pretty sophisticated forms in cardboard modeling, that can go pretty close to plastic for example. It's mainly marine, aviation, and armor flows that are pretty much developed in cardboard with really astonishing results. You can check, in any search engine, smth like paper models, and may be that be something new to know about that hobby ) Or I can give some links to really pretty cool works, because, having seen some cubic cars, you would say "No way", to it. And also, the best way is to search in Russian, "Бумажные модели скачать" (i.m. "Paper models download") 'cause they are almost every good thing that is already pirated. ) |

Re: Porsche 906: 1/24 Scratch build cardboard model
if you do have more paper model builds, i'm looking forward to seeing them.
i've tried doing sci-fi/mecha paper models but not cars (haven't started cutting out the printout of the MPR13 pajero evolution yet LOL), so building one sure takes some patience with all the cutting, folding and gluing

Re: Porsche 906: 1/24 Scratch build cardboard model
Dont' understand me not right, but if so, really would like to share just some few cool works of other pm modelers. I bet not everybody knew that f.e. F1 can look fantastic and from paper too.
And that's alright. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Talking about my own small contribution, you can check it on my site It'll be good if that can be helpful for somebody. P.S. Not agitating for anything. Just for your guidance. |

Re: Porsche 906: 1/24 Scratch build cardboard model
wow!!! That awesome!!! You could lay a few layers of fiberglass in the Scratchbuild style and that roof would be strong enough to open the doors.

Re: Porsche 906: 1/24 Scratch build cardboard model
Hi Sieben,
That's impressive - good stuff! It proves that we don't have to be limited in what we use to build our models - cardboard, paper, whatever we can find that will work and give us the shape (or texture) we want. Of course, being a Porsche gives it bonus points from me, too... SB |

Re: Porsche 906: 1/24 Scratch build cardboard model
Thanks.
Scratchbul you are absolutely write talking about a material. 914joe I prone to metal, but how metal, used fresheners or kinda, so that can also give real metal look/shine while building in comparison to brass. Even so the body of real 906 was made of fiberglass... But may be its all later. ) Thanks for comments. |
