1989 Toyota 4x4 Pickup Starter Question (how to get it out?).
I have a 1989 Toyota 4x4 Pickup it’s got a 22RE engine and manual transmission. I have traced my problem starting it down to the starter itself. I went to remove it and could only get to the top bolt. Looking from the bottom I can see the bottom bolt but cant get to it. How do I get that starter out of there without taking half of the passenger side vehicle apart? Can anyone give me a step by step on this, my book has 6 steps like it is simple and its not that simple?
Thanks, |

H'mm, for me it's the upper one that is harder to get to. What's in your way ? I'm having a hard time picturing it in my head.

Re: 1989 Toyota 4x4 Pickup Starter Question (how to get it out?).
The Bottom bolt I could have only gotten with a small air wrench and a long extension the top one I could get with a regular ratchet & I don’t know how I would have gotten the starter out unless I took it out from the bottom but it would have been more impossible to get a new one back in.
GOOD NEWS the top bolt on the starter was loose for some reason and when I tightened it there was a wire going from it to a wire harness. What can I say my vehicle starts like it was brand new! If anyone still wants to post the step-by-step go for it! Thanks, |
