Re: P0440

just look at it. if you think something doesnt look right on it, then get a new one.
if i were you, i would just make sure its tight, clear the code, and wait and see if it comes back

Re: P0440

It also could be a problem with the fuel pump assemble o-ring. Since he has replace the fuel pump it is possible that the o-ring did not seal properly.

How would I know if the o-ring didn't seal properly??Would I have to pull the pump again?? The car runs fine and does nothesitate at all, maybe I will just replace the cap at this point!?!

Re: P0440

The fuel tank vent valve is located right next to the fuel pump module. I would take the access cover back off and make sure you didn't accidentally disconnect the wiring harness or the purge hose from the vent valve while changing out the pump.

If the O-ring does not seal, you will get a P0440 DTC. Check the simple things first, but anytime the pump is replaced, a new O-ring should be installed. Very common mistake that will come back to haunt you!

I just double checked the wire harness, everything looks fine, I also looked for the purge hose ; I am not sure which one that is?? Could you give me some direction?BTW the pump assembly came with a new o-ring and it was used(and greased); the pump went in good and tight.

Exclamation Re: P0440

My 00' GP SE with 125,000+km 3.1L V6 had pull up that exact same code P0440. Where is the air solenoid? Any pic or diagram to fix the problem?

i just filled up and left a good amount of fuel on the ground ..... this would tell me the o-ring did not seal properly. I will be removing and replacing the o-ring and snap ring, maybe it got twisted when i installed it??. thanks for all the help!
