Headlight condensation - 2000TC
Me again. A rainy day has just reminded me of the only other problem I have with this car: condensation inside the headlight housing, both sides. Seems to be the humidity doing it, rather than the rain itself getting in.
Appears that it would be easy enough to seal it off, but a) how to get the condensation out that's already there? b) is hermetically sealed a good idea, even if possible? Advice from anyone who's cured this much appreciated! |

Re: Headlight condensation - 2000TC
Hello
Yes, have the same problem on my wifes 03 Sable. What I do when it gets really bad, to the point of not being able to see down the road. I pull the head light completely out of the car. I Remove the bulbs and bring the light inside the house. Then I set up a small fan blowing directly onto the back of the light. I do this just before going to bed and it's usually is dryed out in the morning. I used some clear caulk and went around the seam to try to seal it up. It worked, no more moisture in that one, just need to do the other side now. Good luck. Mike |

Yes kind of a bummer 9 more payments to go and already caulking things together. What's next duct tape? Ha Ha

Re: Headlight condensation - 2000TC
I had the same problem with my 98 TC. If you take the whole unit out, it likely to have about four black rubber air tubes where you can put air in the light (behind the lense) using an air compressor and dry it. After you do this, seal it at the top along the clear plastic lenses to keep moisture out in the future.

Re: Headlight condensation - 2000TC
I still haven't caulked that other lens. The repaired one is still clear. Now the car's paid for, it doesn't seem so bad to have to caulk things.
I have also drilled small holes in the lower corners on some others in the past. That's seem to work well for old junky cars. I wouldn't dream of doing it for my own, but I have many customers who request that.
