1988 s15 pickup - Problem with high idle
When I start my truck its idling really high for about 30 seconds. I hear its normal for the idle to be high when you first start old vehicles, but this is definably not whats happening. It has begun to do the same "revving" sound when I put my clutch in to shift while driving. (though, this is not happening all the time). If I had some money to spend I'd take it in to be fixed but I'm fairly broke from college and living expenses. If anybody has any suggestions on what I should do, please feel free to post. Thank you!
<--- The face I make when I look at my truck right now. |

Re: 1988 s15 pickup - Problem with high idle
You should have a TBI ( Throttle Body Injection) It would be my best bet would be the IAC (Idle Air Control). Its a gold colord part on the right side of the throttle body i believe that it takes a 1" wrench to take it off. I have run into this my self on my 89.
