Porsche 917K -A tribute to Pedro Rodriguez-

Dear community,
althought finished two years ago i want to show you some pics of my 917K-project. This is because i want to give something back to all of you who accompanied me on my Aston Martin DBR9 wip and to give you some more impressions about what a enthusiastic member has already finished. Actually my 917 was awarded with a gold medal at the German Model Masters 2007 in the category "single civilian subject". I got a great inspiration from one of the hardest and uncompromising sport car drivers of all times, Pedro Rodriguez. I read a lot about him and his races and so this is also a tribute to him. He lost his life after a terrible accident at the Norisring in Nürnberg in july 1971 only half a year after his win of the Daytona 24 hours in january the same year with this particular car no.2.

And what else could it be as a dirty gulf car..................;-)

Sorry, i have to add at least SOME pics of the construction because this is definitely NOT a WIP .......don't get me wrong.

So please feel free to comment and once again:
Thanks a lot to all of you for making this a very special place! I feel very comfortable here, i learn a lot and enjoy all the great contributions.

Yours
Jochen

Very nice, Jochen. The paint looks very flat and by that realistic. The wheathering is not too much. Overall a very well build 917K. Did you have a lot problems with rear cowl??

Impeccable! (as strange as that might sound)

I'm very impressed with your weathering skills. Your WIP on the Aston is worth publishing as an article about how to realize a very realistic looking model.

SUPERB!!! the model, detail and presentation, a great tribute indeed.

I am planning to do one of Pedro Rodriguez 917K, the one with the front damage to one of the corners and the "atempt" to repair it on the heat of the race.....when this driver said ....let's race hard...he mean it!!!!!!!!!!

Using sandpaper for track surface is a brilliant idea!

Great stuff! I especially like the bodywork fasteners at the rear.

That's a very beautiful build (in a dirty kind of way). I am curious, what scale is it and what kit?
