Truck changes lanes on its own....

Alright guys, this forum help me with my other truck lets see about this one. I have a 2002 Rodeo LS (V6) with 103k miles. When driving straight or turning and I hit any kind of moderate to large bump in the road, the truck shifts over (sideways) a bit. To the left, to the right, it all depends on the condition of the road. If I brake while going over bumps the anti brake kicks in. Sometimes it feels like my tires have lost contact with the pavement. There is no jerk or movement in the steering wheel when this happens. The steering is not sloppy, its tight and responsive. My wheel alignment is good.

So what do you think the problem is? Could it be worn shocks, bad suspension parts, or something in my steering system? Thanks in advance.

The ABS kicking on when braking over bumps is certainly bad shocks. The job of shock absorbers is to keep the tires on the road when going over bumps. Your tires ARE losing contact with the road. When you brake going over bumps, the tires come off the ground and momentarily lock up and then the ABS compensates by releasing brake pressure to prevent lock up. This is dangerous and needs to be fixed right away by replacing the shocks with new ones. Do this first and see if your other symptoms also go away.

Tires are leaving the road on bumps - time for new shocks.
Though bad springs can wear shocks out prematurely.

Thanks for your input guys. The shocks were the first thing I thought of. I'll go ahead and change them as soon as I can and post an update.

Finally got to change the shocks. Here's the results. It still sidehops a little, but only during a turn, on a bumpy road, at speed. I can live with that, no one ever said the Rodeo handles like a spots car (lol). Thanks alot guys.
