Hello,
Is there a special puller I need to remove/replace the rear wheel bearing on my 94 TC? I have my noise narrowed down to the bearing on the right side. I am speaking of the wheel bearing not the differential bearing. I have the wheel, caliper, and backing plate off already. It appears the bearing is pressed in? Thanks |

Re: 94 TC rear wheel bearing removal?
Hello, I guess that you already have the axle shaft out. If not, jack the car into the air, remove tire, brakes etc. remove the back diff pan and fill plug, put car in neutral, rotate the drive shaft until you see the 5/16 bolt, put back into park. remove the bolt. Push the pin that the bolt holds into place out, and be careful not to let the spider gears fall. Push the shaft towards the car and a clip will fall on the inside of the housing. Then pull the shaft opposite direction to remove it. Now you can use the shaft to remove the seal and then there's the bearing. Check to make sure that theres is not a snap ring there to hold the bearing in place. If not, you will need a slide hammer to remove the bearing. then you will neeed either a bearing tool to place around the bearing and hammer it into place, or a socket, just be careful not to hit it to hard and crack the race.

Thanks again |

Re: 94 TC rear wheel bearing removal?
There is a special puller for that. A slide hammer with two jaws to grab the bearing. Most of the chain autoparts stores will loan tools like this. They basically make you pay for the tool, If you don't bring it back you buy it.

Thanks everyone. Autozone had the slide hammer with the correct attachment and it was a breeze.
