Red face 1989 c/k 1500

one question before i start why is it c/k? whats the differrence between c and k?
Anyway, my grandfather recently obtained an old beat up '89 chevy 1500. We plan to work on it when i get off school for the summer, and by my 16th birthday, it should be in good shape. my question is how is it to drive? will it be a good first car?'

I don't have much of the specs but i know it has regular locks and windows, and it doesnt have a radio, which we will fix, and needs freon in the A/C system. I think it has a 350 in it but dont bet on that one.

So, what do you guys think for a beginner driver getting his first car next year?

Should be a good first truck for you. I drive that same truck, I went to http://www.crutchfield.com/ and got a cd player that fits right in that dash,no cuting wires, plugs right in call them tell then what color truck dash is and they will match it right up.
this truck will be a good truck. fit it up nice , the girls love nice trucks,HaHa.
take a look at my truck, you should be able to see it with my post, after market hood, 454/SS wheels. sets it off nice.
good luck with this truck.

C's are 2W drive and K's are 4W drive.

The AC came with R-12 freon in them.
Has it been changed over to R-134a.

Look it over and do the regular mantiance thing.
If it is good on gas mileage it may make a good first car.
Good Luck with it.
