i would like to swap a 2005 4.3 into my truck just wondering if it would fit

Fit, yes.

Wire right up, most likely not. If you have both motors in front of you at the same time you could most likely swap all the 1997 stuff onto it to make it a direct drop in. I do not believe that there are any real internal differences between the 2 engines, just electronics (if those are even any different).
