how do you fix rear gears?
my jeep broke last night and we think it is the rear gears. all its doing is the drive shaft is freely spinning. when i used to put it in drive and reverse it use to jerk sometimes not to bad but sometime really hard. we really need some help in this area on how to fix it.

Re: how do you fix rear gears?
Sounds as if you are right. You say the rear drive shaft is spinning....I'm thinking this is when you put it in gear? If so, the rear differential will need to be opened, and the gears inspected to see which part(s) are damaged. If you're not mechanically inclined or don't have friend that is, sounds like a search for a good auto shop is in your future.
What year is your Jeep and how many miles? Also, you say it jerks hard going into gear......that's likely a separate problem.
