Which Post Do I Disconnect On My Battery

to cut the power to the inside of my car? as a result of my door not being able to close the lights on the inside have stayed on all nite and basically killed my battery...my car wont crank at all..after I get a jump I want to disconnect the battery so the lights wont continue to drain my battery.

Re: Which Post Do I Disconnect On My Battery

their should be a bolt if you can get the bolt off the switch then you could pull it out and see the wires or pull the fuse from the fuse box that is the easy way

Re: Which Post Do I Disconnect On My Battery

It is always a good idea to disconnect the negative cable from the post, especially if you are going to be working on the car. Reason being is that even if you disconnect the positive, with the negative being still hooked up, you could still accidentally lay a tool somewhere on the engine(still grounded because ground is hooked up still at the battery) and the other end touch the positive post on the battery causing a short. Keeping a habit of taking the negative cable loose is always a good idea.

In the winter when it's cold and damp my inside lights don't come on when I open the drivers side door, when it's dry and warm they do come on.
I'm thinking it is the wiring. would it be something I could fix easily by taking that bolt off?

thanks, cl8
