Boards really slow

Hey you guys...I know you're watching and I know there are a ton of lurkers out there, but this board is really really slow.

Talk to me people.

what gives?

How come you don't like posting? I remember a time when this board was as busy as other places I go to, but now it's just slooooooooooow.

What can I do to get your interest up and get you guys engaged?

What is it you want more of or less of or whatever?

Please watch your language and try not to attack people, but seriously....be honest.

Why no love fo AF?

I can fix this....help me.

Re: Boards really slow

Agree on the slow borad, still bad this am.

However, agree that there's also something else at work behind the reduced participation on here.
Wish I had an answer.

Re: Boards really slow

well...maybe it's time for an art-fusion.

I think we can get some folks that want to play over here and turn this into what it should be.

Forums provide artists, regardless of skill level, a place to share and grow. Since art isn't about being better than someone else this is the perfect medium to grow through sharing.

Blip you hang out at other places with me so I know you know what I'm sayin here.

You up-and-comers need to be posting. You "pros" of which I am not, need to be posting as well.

By only lurking you're all missing out on a major growth opportunity. If you cats wake up and come on out and play, I'll bring some new flavor to this mix.

I see you guys mention names of those you admire....if you participate and act like this place matters, I'll bring them here to share with you.

Trust me on that, I'm not kiddin.

Bring it people

Re: Boards really slow

I'm sorry, but that's an ugly color for the valve cover. I prefer subtle like mine here. Although, I do like to change my rubber hosing to a better material.

I know, it's been slow lately, but I'm very busy with work and school so I have no time to draw. I do have several sketches lying around to be worked on, but I can't seem to find the time to and I'm trying to finish up my last order this week too. *sigh*

Re: Boards really slow

I know folks are busy, trust me...you don't want to see my list, however I think another question needs to be asked.

Is your car art something you just do or something you are?

I'm thinking we need to get more people. If there's more people then the lags won't seem as severe.

I'll work on a plan.

We;ll see if we can't breathe a little life back into this thing.

Re: Boards really slow

I've been sharing and viewing art on this site for years and will do whatever I can to help keep it alive and fun. I post more of my wips here than anywhere else because I so value the comments posted here. Lemorris, GB, Rexsin and others have helped me develop my art so I strongly feel the need to pass on help to others, as I can.

Re: Boards really slow

I do not post any drawings here for two main reasons:

1) I don't have the time to draw (I literally don't)
2) I simply don't feel I am in any way good enough to be able to show my work here. I am the type of person that, if I can't do something up to a standard I set myself, I then don't do it. And for me, drawing is like that.

I love seeing the amazing automotive artwork by people like lemorris, GB and Dom. I love the work of Klem too:

http://klem.deviantart.com/?offset=40

I saw his artwork on a computer game forum where there was an artwork thread. Amazing.

I'd love to be able to do this type of thing, but I know I can't. And while people say, practice, practice, practice, I know I will never get to the level that I envisage I want to be at. It's like someone who knows that no matter how hard they try, they'll never be able to be a champion sportsperson.

But it doesn't stop me from offering support and encouragement to the range of fantastioc artists here on AF. You guys and gals are fantastic and it is a privilege to be able to see your artwork here. So thank you.

I try to post where I can, but this place simply isn't humming like it used to.

Re: Boards really slow

Hi Lemorris,
I know what you mean. It seems like most of the old timers have gone, that's not to say that there aren't some good new arrivals. It seems like most are lookers and not posters. I posted something in non automotive art and have over 20 looks but not one comment. Personally I don't need comments as I post for other's enjoyment but it would be nice to know what the lookers are thinking.

Re: Boards really slow

I'm only new but from what I had seen from when I was primarily a viewer and not a member is that some people would only post once. They would post their art and get no responses on how to improve etc and this may have turned them away.

I will continue to post mine, since this will help me get better and I know that comments to my art will come soon I hope.

Thats my input guys.
