need a little info...

ok so ive been driving my 1999 plymouth neon for around 2000 miles with it having a rough idle and it hasnt gotten any better. I was wondering if the timing belt might be off by a notch or maybe was installed wrong.

what would be signs or symptoms that it is wrong?

Could this be checked without having to remove the timing belt cover or valve cover?

speedo claims car has 126,000 miles but i have no idea if the engine actually does and i also have no idea if this car has ever had the timing belt changed or not.

engine vibration. the engine shakes a lot at idle but smooths out at any other RPM.

Re: need a little info...

it's usually the mounts that fail. open the hood and inspect the mount by the timing belt cover on the top. it's called the upper engine torque strut. with the amount of mileage you have you may need to replace the upper, lower engine torque strut and the engine center mount
