Using blacken-it
I just brought some of this stuff from my lhs and im not really sure how to use it.I tried to use it for some p/e mesh i have i dipped it in it and waited about 2 min and part looked same..no black at all..help what am i doing wrong?

Perhaps you should check with the manufacturer of the mesh what material it's made with. Blacken-it works with brass and white metal, it's not for aluminium or stainless, for example.
Did you clean the parts before deeping them on blacken it? Try cleaning with lacquer solvent. |

Dang im stupid you might be right... the etch was tamiyas etch set that comes with their f40 kit ..i thought it was brass but it might be stainless???????

Blacken-It doesn't blacken stainless, but is there anything else that does a better job than paint?
PE screens and grids are a particular problem. I've painted pieces three or four times, trying to find that magic balance between full coverage and too much paint. Ddms |
