Unhappy 99, sl1, muffler leaking

I've noticed that there is some liquid leakage from muffler. The leakage is
so much that it's covered about 24 sq. ft of area. Liquid is blackish in colour
and leaks only when the car is running and in drive. All the fluid levels are OK.
Is this dangerous ?

Please help me to find out the poblem.

Thanks in advance.

Probably just plain water normally produced by the combustion process.

Re: 99, sl1, muffler leaking

Thanks for your response. The car is still running fine. The smoke coming out of
the exhaust is normal and the liquid doesn't smell like gas. Liquid is evaporating
and leaving marks on the floor. Liquid is blackish mixed with water and doesn't
have any smell.

Thanks once again.

Thanks. I found out 2 small pin sized holes in the muffler.I've applied
muffler cement over them and now it seems to be OK.

Thanks once again.

Re: 99, sl1, muffler leaking

I'm pretty certain those little holes are supposed to be there to allow drainage. I've seen them in new mufflers.

Yes, those holes are there just for that reason, its means that your engine is running good it you have water coming out, I just thought that it was a little excessive the way that you were explaining it

Re: 99, sl1, muffler leaking

I have been driving this car for 4 years and never faced this problem. I also
used muffler cement over the holes but that is not working. The water is
still leaking. Any suggestion(s) ?

Thanks.

Let it run out! It's supposed to do that. If you prevent the water from escaping you might cause some other problems.

Re: 99, sl1, muffler leaking

the water comes from burning the hydrogen in the fuel. Let the water out. My car has those holes there too, they're factory. Remember how quickly the old mufflers rotted out? I used to drill holes in them so they'd drain.
