Re: 1991 rx7 smoking

this is a car im looking to buy, hmm, smells like mix of both, did this when first started up and then cleared out, i can smell gas too. kinda wierd. its convertible with 18 rims, car is in good condition, but needs mechanical attention and i have never worked on a rotary but willing to learn this car would be for my 15yo son who has permit, and if we got this car we would want to swap in a 5 speed, i fouund a donor car for 500 bucks with no title. also he has raced since he was 7, so we want to do some autocross eventually, what all can be done to it for more power?

Re: 1991 rx7 smoking

Good chance it's the intake gasket. The one between the engine and intake assembly. This happened to me. Replacing it solved my white smoke. There are coolant passages thru there and some was leaking into the combustion area.
