93 tc executive stuck in park, hazard lights out

Brakes lights don't work, 4 way hazard light are out, shifter locked in Park. All fuses and relays are in good working condition. So what gives? All items quit at the same time. checked both fuse boxes under hood and dash.
also the turnsignals are not working. Thanks.

Re: 93 tc executive stuck in park, hazard lights out

First, check to see if you have power to the brake light switch under the dash. Install a direct jumper wire between the two contacts and see if the brake lights work. A disfunctional brake light switch will keep the brake lights from working AND keep you from shifting out of park with the ignition key on. A work around for the park lock is to turn the ignition switch to off (unlocked steering wheel), shifting the selector to neutral, then starting the car.

If you don't have power to the brake light switch, you need to investigate farther up the line. The brake light, turn signals and hazards may have a common hot lead.

The car will start in neutral and thats how I got the car home. Kinda dangerous without any brake lights or turn signals working. I will check that brake switch and see what I find out. Thanks for the reply.

Jay, take a look at this thread on a different forum. This guy has the same issue and it shows the resolution.

Re: 93 tc executive stuck in park, hazard lights out

Today I changed the brake light switch and the flasher unit in the underdash fuse box. I can now start the car and shift it, I now have turn signals.

The only brake light that works is the 1 in the rear window. the 4 way hazards do not work. The Bulbs are good. Could there be a second flasher unit for the hazards? Could it also effect the brake lights?

Thanks for the help so far. I'm making progress just need some more help.

If Fuses,relays,Bulbs,flashers,and switches are good!

There's probably a fuseable link somewhere that went Bad.

If 3rd break light works, the brake light bulbs are bad in both the rear Tail lights.

Both light elements should work on Break light bulbs!
Repace with known good bulbs.

I helped a dude @ AZ0 who had 3-bad Break light bulbs.
If one go's bad,the other will soon follow.

Brake light bulbs are Good. tail lights work, turn signals work, both filaments in each light are working. Still no brake or hazard lights. Third brake light is working. I'm Stumped.

Please make sure beyond questionable doubt, that both Elements are good!
One element is for tail light, the other is for Brake + flashing.

It is very hard to do a visual inspection, thats why I use a know good
bulb.

Re: 93 tc executive stuck in park, hazard lights out

When i pull the light switch out so that the tail lights are on 1 filament in each bulb lights up. then i turn on the turn signal the other filament blinks on and off, if I turn the hazard light on the turn signals quit working and the lights will not flash just the taillight filament stays lit. This is what leads me to believe that the bulbs are good both filaments in both taillights do light up. just not when the brake pedal is pushed or the 4 way hazards are activated. Brake switch is new and is working.

Needless to say I'm

Brake Light in the rear window works Great and the car shifts from park.
