Rear washer sprayer very poor.

What's the deal with the "piss pour" (pun intended) water distribution of the rear washer on these vans? Has anyone found a means of improving this? I've tried the "timing" thing where you wait for the appropriate wiper sweep and then press the squirt button. Very poor performance.

You mean the washer squirts out washer fluid but not in a spray pattern? That's normal.

My 2000 Silo acted the same way. Just pours out.

My 2004 Toyota Matrix rear washer does the same thing.

I've done the 'timing' thing too. I have found that keeping a good wiper blade on makes a big difference.

Yep. That's what I mean. I thought that perhaps some on the forum had maybe experimented with a new spray head, or a different kind, and maybe drilled it out of something. But yes, it just basically dribbles out the end on to the window. It didn't do this when it was new, but it was only a few months and a few thousand miles before it started dribbling.

If it didn't dribble out when new then you may be able to restore it.

Remove the nozzle and check to ensure it's clean and also activate the washer pump while the nozzle is off.

If there is a good steady stream of washer fluid then the problem is not with the pump, not with the hose, but with the nozzle.

Have you tried cleaning the nozzle with a thin wire?

Try not to be too aggressive doing this as you may poke a hole in the hose.

I have the same problem. How do you remove that nozzle?

It's not a "problem", it's designed that way. If it was a fine spray none of the spray would end up on the glass when you are going 60mph. That's why other vehicles have it that way too.

I should have been clearer - I have a problem getting any fluid to come out and I would like to remove the nozzle. Is it difficult to remove it or perhaps does it just pop off?

First thing to check is the pump. It is up front attached to the washer bottle. There are 2 pumps there, the one that is higher on the bottle is the rear washer pump. Disconnect the hose at the pump and see if the squirters work. I had my hose come disconnected once and it just sprayed in the engine compartment. Also, the bottle should be full or close to full. The rear squirts will stop working first as an indication you are low on fluid. Then, after all of that is verified (or maybe you did verify this already?) you can pop off the squirter nozzle. although I think you could just as easily poke a small diameter wire in there to dislodge whatever is in there (if anything).
