So my truck has no power whatsoever, I replaced the battery and still no power. What could be causing this? Even if the alternator was bad and so was the starter, my dash would at least light up. I get nothing.
Also, I disconnected a solenoid/dc power contactor of some sort that was rigged up to my battery under my hood. I have no idea what it does. It's a White-Rodgers / RBM Type 586-10511. Would this have anything to do with why my truck has no power, I know it's not factory. Last edited by usmcbeanz; 03-01-2009 at 11:45 PM. |

Re: 98 1500 5.7lv8 no power whatsoever
I think you have a bad connection or battery cable. Start by cleaning all connections, especially the large battery cables. Carefully examine the cable ends for corrosion.
If you have a set of jumper cables, then use them as a test to bypass the battery cable. In other words, connect a jumper cable from battery ground to engine block, then test. If you have power, then you know battery ground cable is bad. Run same test with positive cable, being careful not to short out the positive side. There are also grounding straps from engine to chassis. Check and clean them too. good luck -
