1995 Mustang Transmission Trouble

I have a 1995 Mustang automatic with overdrive, 3.8 v6
I just noticed that at highway speed it will suddenly be as if the car has gone into neutral. Revving the engine up doesn help, its as though it is no longer in drive. I can ease it into 2nd and drive for a mile or 2 and then ease it back into drive and it is ok. This happens every time Im on the highway. For a while turning the overdrive off helped but now it doesnt. I'm noticing it is beginning to do it occassionally at lower speeds. Any ideas? I really dont want to put a transmission in this car but Im afraid thats where Im headed

Re: 1995 Mustang Transmission Trouble

Sounds like the tranny is slipping. Have it rebuilt if you can (with warranty), or have it replaced.

Re: 1995 Mustang Transmission Trouble

Thanks. Does anyone know which transmission came in this car? I'd like to call around for rebuild pricing or to find a replacement

Re: 1995 Mustang Transmission Trouble

Having same problem with mine. I am told it must be pulled and rebuilt. Prob bands
Does that sound reasonable? I can go 45 without difficulty...is this going to blow one day? Am I ok to keep going and just stay on back roads?
