need to locate the crank sensor
can any one help me in locating the crank sensor for a 2000 mitsubishi eclips 4cyl

There is a wire going behind the timing cover, if you follow that behind the timing cover you will find the crank sensor. You have to remove the balancer and lower timing cover and you SHOULD be able to sneak it out without removing the timing belt.
