Headunit Replacement Converter
I want to replace the factory Clarion head unit for the Bose stereo sytem in my 1993 Nissan Maxima. I saw that there is a adapter wire harness called Nissan 84-94 Headunit Replacement Converter by P.I.E.(PIE-HRC-NISS). Is this the solution? I don't want to dump money into my car to gut it and rewire everything nor do I want to buy a new head unit that is bose compatible. Any advise will be appreciated.

as far as i know, the clarion unit is amplified at the deck while the bose system is amplified at the individual speakers. i think you'll have to redo your whole sound system for the bose head. you can put an aftermarket deck in a bose system with a line convertor but i don't think you can put a bose head in a non-bose system. i may be wrong though.

I was a little unclear. What I have now is a Clarion head unit with the Bose stereo system. I want to replace the Clarion head unit with an after-market head unit I own from a previous car. I get mixed advise from a lot of different web sites. Some say it'll make crackling and popping noises. Other sites say something will end up getting ruined. Others say it's not worth it, just replace the entire system (which isn't an optiopn). This converter seems to be the answer. Does it work without problems? And will it sound good?

oh i get it. it'll work fine. i have the 6 speaker bose and i put in a kenwood cd/tape/mp3 player in my car. i went to www.crutchfield.com and they sent me the line convertor for like $20 with the stereo and there's no distortion in the sound at all.
