95 rivi brake system

I have recently been having problems with my brake system. The master cylinder was leaking and I fixed it but my brakes are still mushy and the car wont stop. I topped off the master cylinder unit with brake fluid and have been constantly pushing on the pedal to gain pressure. I was told my brake lines may be leaking but I have not noticed the fluid level going down in the master cylinder even though I have pumped the brakes numerous times. I have meant to check the lines but the weather has been pretty harsh lately. The pedal is not stiff, so im sure its not the brake booster or hope so at least. Any suggestions on what it might be? Also It sounds like air wooshing when i push down on the brakes.

Did you bench bleed the MC before installing and all brake lines after the MC install? Sounds like air in the system to me.

i didnt bleed the lines just the master cylinder, before i replaced the master cylinder i had the same problem however. No brake fluid was getting to the lines at all. I used to be able to put in brake fluid when it got low and it would work just fine but after driving it for awhile without changing the master cylinder it stopped getting fluids to the lines. So if I just bleed the brakes I should be fine or do I need to replace them? Should i bench bleed the master cylinder again as well?

You can bleed the Master Cyclinder by cracking the lines on the master cylinder one at a time then have someone depress the brake pedal retightening the line before the pedal is released. Do this until air bubbles are no longer apparent or a steady stream of fluid is observed. When depressing the pedal do it slowly not just stomping it to the floor.

After doing the master cyclinder proceed to the right rear , left rear, right front and lastly left front brake bleeders.

CHECK the fluid in the master cyclinder resivoir after each bleeding to insure you do not run the resivoir dry.
