49 Lead Sled Merc!

Working on a 49 Mercury, this is more or less the look I am going for....

Went out and bought these carbs from the Model Car Garage with their linkages, tedious but nice!!

Part of the interior will have the engine color to compliment the car overall..

Installing an Optima battery...

This is amazing. I love the carbs. Everything so far is done to perfection.

Amazing work! Everything looks great so far, but the carbs and the paint stand out most.

Re: 49 Lead Sled Merc!

Nice work! Great body paint- I like your color better than the 1:1. What did you use for paint?

On the show car, are the block and tranny painted to match the dash? They look the same color, and I'm wondering if this is intentional.

The Strombergs look terrific- money and effort well spent. Please, give that engine a little wash- not for dirt but for a bit of shadowing- especially on the carbs and tranny.

The 1:1 doesn't really have it, but I think a bit of BMF chrome around the window trim would look really sweet.

Thanks for the input. The paint used is HOK Lime Time fron the 3 step system that Wal-Mart use to carry, I used a different clear though. I will be adding BMF around the window trim, it will not be exactly like the one in the 1/1 picture. The engine color is Verdoro Green, a color used by Pontiac in the 60's, a little darker than the Lime Time. I will also use this color for the interior in conjuction with Wimbledon White which is a very light tan color. The carbs do have a slight wash, it's a little difficult to see it in the pictures, I even drybrushed them with a little Antique Gold.

Re: 49 Lead Sled Merc!

I was able to do a little bit more work on the Merc this long weekend!!!

I will be using Replicas and Miniatures Company of Maryland interior detail for the door panels as this kit does not include them. I will be Alclading these pieces in chrome and making my mounting holes accordingly!!!

Re: 49 Lead Sled Merc!

Very Very cool - I can see we have a similar paint scheme going on - I will do my interior in two tone light/dark brown.

Your chasis and undercarriage is also amazing - thanks for giving me a measuring yardstick with your build!
