Unhappy Major Start issues

Okay...I have a 95 escort LX and I went out to go to work last week and it wouldn't start. I went out and the neg battery cable was shot. So, I replaced it. Now, I have a solid connection on both + and - battery connections and all the interior and exterior light work. I even have radio. Seems like all the electrical is fine, but when I try to start the engine, I get nothing but what sounds like the engine making a half turn, it won't turn all the way over. Is this a starter problem?

Re: Major Start issues

If you haven't tried jumper cables yet, give it a shot. You might have enough juice in the battery to run those accessories, but not enough amps to turn the starter. It sounds as if the starter is working since it is trying to turn.

A way to verify the problem is to crank while the headlights are on. If the lights go dim, the battry is dead. If the lights stay bright and it still won't go... something else is wrong.

I vote for bad/dead battery. If the caps are removable see if it has enough water.

Hey that kinda happend to me also. Where my lights and everything would come on..but the engine wouldnt turn over. It ended up being a bad battery. I bought a new battery from walmart a energizer and it's still going strong.
