Radio Code needed for 92 prelude
I can't seem to get any help! I contacted the original dealer who stated that the code could not be released for legal reasons? I have the name and address of the original owner but no dice. Anyone out there have any suggestions?

Re: Radio Code needed for 92 prelude
The 5 digit code SHOULD BE on a sticker found on the side of the glove compartment. Usually on the outside left when you open it up. There are two numbers there - you want the five digit one. Once ten attempts are made without the correct code being entered the system locks itself up and will not accept any code. This is to keep someone crazy enough to keep trying random numbers, such as a thief, from eventually finding the right sequence.
There are two ways of releasing the block. The first is to run the radio for an hour. No sound will come out but once it has been on for an hour it will unlock itself and you can put in the code. Or, disconnect the negative battery cable for about a minute and then reconnect. You now can enter the code and all will be well. Well, except for the fact that now you have to reset your clock as well but if you will go through that much to get the radio back setting the clock is probably withing your area of expertise. Let me know if this helps.

Re: Radio Code needed for 92 prelude
If it's not there, check the top/bottom of the radio, call Honda, give them the serial #, and they should give you the code free of charge.

Re: Radio Code needed for 92 prelude
thanks, unfortunately, it looks as if it was never placed anywhere in the vehicle. Any suggestions as to retrieving the serial # without removing the radio or any parts near the radio? I was able to see the back of the radio, however, I am unsure as to where exactly the serial # is located.

Re: Radio Code needed for 92 prelude
With the radio off, press and hold preset buttons 1 and 6 simultaneously while you turn the radio on. That brings up the serial number on the display. It works on some Honda radios but not all.
The radio must be in a locked state (asking for the unlock code) for this to work. |

Re: Radio Code needed for 92 prelude
Try pulling out the ashtray and looking for a white sticker with 5 numbers on it.
