Engine

Ok, so im 17 and taking a major interest in cars. For my senior project in high school I figured why not build an engine. I want to know what type to get, crate or short block. I want a v8 because once i have the money id like to drop the v8 in place of the v6 in an S-10. Eventually id turn it Pro Street. but for now Im just building an engine. So any sugestions?

Have a chat with you shop teacher.
He should be able to help you decide.

What this guy said, I had a S10 with a 350, was a pain putting it in, I have seen some 4.3's run pretty good. You can get great power out of a 4.3 as well, and it is a-lot better on gas.

Re: Engine

What year S10 will you be working with? That makes a lot of difference.

not to send your head for a spin but if you wont to build a engine for starters a v8 is easy but, if you wont to in press someone rebuild something smaller. and like they said putting a bigger motor in can be a pain.
a friend and i put a 350 in a short bed Isuzu puck up and it was not walk in the park. but i have told people in RL time and time again you dont a lot of power you just need to get what you have to the ground. you have can 600+ hp but if you cant get it to the ground with out slicks then there no point in have that much is the way i see it.

i say rebuild the v6 change the compression and things like that. my cos has a 2000 s10 with the vtech v6 and we pulled it and changed it to a 8:1 compression and put a single t4 troube, forged pistions, titmua valve springs, up greaded cam, and took v8 fuel injectors and swoped then in, and put a piggy back on the ecu and he can out run most mustangs.

but i would talk to your teacher as well he knows where you at and all
