96 Cap stalls when put in Reverse
My 96 Caprice w/ 4.3 engine sometimes stalls when you put it in reverse, usually when you go from D to R. Doesn't matter if it's cold or warm. Starts right back up after that. It doesn't seem to do it if you go from P to R, only when you have been going forward previously and then put it into R, such as when you have to back into a parking space.
Anyone have this issue before? Car has 70K miles. Thx. |

Quote:
next clean the IAC using throttle body cleaner with a tooth brush..and the valve [pindle]....seat ... when you turn your wheels when stopped does the vehicle maintain a steady Idle ,,,if not this is usually the problem.. |

Re: 96 Cap stalls when put in Reverse
Forgot to mention: The guy who sold it to me (original owner) said it has been doing this since it was new in 1996 (didn't ask why he didn't fix it under warranty, but never mind that).
Where is the PCV located? It doesn't have any other problems other than the occasional stall in R, actually runs very smoothly otherwise, can barely feel anything thru the steering wheel. If I turn the wheel when stopped and the idle changes then it's the PCV valve? |
