Problems with vct on dual overhead cams

Motor will run when cold and idle when cold after warming up does not idle runs like its to rich any sugestions? wondering if vct could be the problem
Any other suggestions highly requested

Car is a 1998 Ford Escort Zx2 2.0 16 valve ztech

we have adjusted timing to top dead center aligned all timing marks still seems like it is out of time
No Codes being thrown

Yet again, as I often do, I suspect a vacuum leak. When the engine is cold the mixture allows the engine to keep running, but as the temperature changes the mixture does as well, and you may be getting too much air which is causing it to die.
