Question 95 Neon Runs for 10-20 mins, Start up after 2 hours ??

95 Neon 2.0 SOHC, Will start up ok when cold after 20 mins or so vehicle
will just shut off, Engine will turn over but will not start. When this happens
there Is NO FUEL PUMP PRIME. After 1 to 2 hours I turn the key to Acc
I here the fuel pump prime, Turn the ignition to start and vehicle will start??

So I replaced the fuel pump and still have the same problem, Replaced fuel
pump relay no change.

I'm thinking PCM ?? Can I just replace the pcm w/another one w/the same numbers or does it need to be reflashed ??

Thanks in Advance

On my '98 it was a bad crankshaft position sensor that did what you describe. On my car no codes showed up unless I checked them right when she died.

Hey Bear, Thanks for the reply, If it was the crank or cam sensor I'm thinking
that the fuel pump should still do the 2 sec prime when the ignition is turned to Acc position ??

I might just replace the crank sensor and see what happens

Re: 95 Neon Runs for 10-20 mins, Start up after 2 hours ??

Been about three years so I do not remember if the fuel pump primed, but I guess it must have with engine cold. In my case she would run about 15 minutes, die and not restart until engine cooled down. I tried to code her (key code) but got no response, so I drove to an Indy tech and told him my problem, he stated her up, let her idle until she died and immediately code scanned her and the Cranks sensor showed up. If you can get to an Auto Zone and let her die and instantly code her that might just work. Good luck and let us know what happens.
