Code P0340

I came out after work tonight and my check engine light came on. I did the 'key dance' and the Code was P0340. I have a 2002 Dodge INtrepid SE with about 80000. I was just wondering if anyone knew what this was and what I should do about it thank you

P0340GenericCamshaft Position Sensor A Circuit (Bank 1 or single sensor)

Replace camshaft Sensor. I blelieve this is a dealer part only.

2.7 or 3.5 engine?

2.7 engine. Is this an expensive part? Will it damage the car to drive it or does it need fixed right away?

Re: Code P0340

So I was running some errands today and I went out to my car and started it after leaving the store and the check engine light is gone. The car is still running fine. But when I did the Key dance the code was still there. . So I don't know. . seems like the problem is fixed. .
