Aux input in factory radio

Hey I was browsing around on some other sites and was looking for some information on how to install an aux input into my factory delco radio. I have a 2000 grand prix gt and ran across a specific web site that claimed they had the way to do it. I tried their technique and came out with no results. Whenever I play a cd or the radio my mp3 player will not cut in and interrupt the R IN and L IN lines in order to take over the signal and play it. Here is the link for the website:

Noticibly they are working on a grand am, but I don't see why there would be much of a difference.

the ground was connected to the chassis, i just removed it to move the connector around.


What can I do in order to make this Aux-in port work???

Thanks for the websites, i pulled them up and noticed that these involved a tape deck though. I was more looking for soldering straight into the internals of the cd player in order to interrupt that signal though.

There has to be a way to interrupt the signal and go straight through the internal right and left IN lines inside the radio. (hopefully )

Got any other ideas guys? If it is impossible just tell me haha

Why not just use an RF FM modulator adapter- I have one that plugs intot he cigarette lighter and I plug my MP3 into it- dial up 88.3 on the radio and Viola- it plays over my radio- they are all over Ebay for under $30....

I have seen the fm modulators but am looking for a cleaner sound without going through the FM frequency. A direct plug in would be nice, and if i could splice something in it would even be cheaper and work alot better without the possibility of radio fuzziness overriding my mp3 sounds.

using 12guage wire your not going to get a cleaner sound. You have to use something more like 20-22 guage wire when sending input thats as little as output from an ipod. That might actually even be your problem.

Why not just go with an aftermarket deck?

Plus you have a different cd-player than the one at the GR-Am Link.
